Dunkin’ Review: The Gracie Go-To

This week I decided to go a bit of a different route with my blog post. While I have been trying Dunkin’ and Starbucks’ highly favored, new, and intriguing drinks, I think that this week we should just make it simple and talk about my go-to drink at my preferred franchise, Dunkin’. This may also give my readers a sense of my taste and thus take it into consideration when reading my previous and future reviews. So let’s talk about it!

Medium Iced Coffee with Extra Cream, Extra Sugar, Extra Ice

Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

My bold (and potentially controversial) go-to coffee is simply a Medium Iced with Extra Cream, Extra Sugar, and Extra Ice. I like the sweetness and smoothness of this drink, and the extra ice helps to make it a perfect temperature without watering down the coffee quickly. This drink is what keeps bringing me back to Dunkin’, no matter how many good Starbucks drinks I try.

While the sweetness of this drink means that I treat it as more of an occasional treat, it is the coffee that has stood the tests of time for me. It isn’t that I don’t like the bold flavors of Starbucks drinks, but there is just something about the way Dunkin’ coffee tastes that have a special place in my heart.

Go-To Coffees Are Special

I feel like what brings people to read coffee blogs or to go and get a regular coffee at their favorite shop isn’t just about the coffee, it’s about the experience. It’s about getting in the car, ordering your favorite drink, and having the comfort of the most beloved flavored coffee in your hand.

For some of us, it’s a boost of energy in the morning. For others, it’s self-congratulation for a long day of work, school, or just a bad day. It’s a kind gesture from a friend, family member, or partner: “I was thinking of you, and I brought you your favorite coffee.” And for even others, it’s a special treat before shopping or a sort of weekly tradition for friends.

Maybe I’m over-romanticizing coffee and the experience that comes with it. Some people may drink too much of it and rely on it, but others appreciate its flavor. It’s one of the simple pleasures in life for me, going to Dunkin’ and getting my favorite coffee. That being said, let me make the case for mine.

The Gracie Go-To

The Rundown

As I described in the introductory section of this blog, my go-to coffee is all about extra, extra, extra. Extra sweet, extra smooth, and extra cold. This coffee is not for those who love bold flavors like espresso. If I’m being honest, there’s really not much of a coffee taste at all, besides that signature Dunkin’ aftertaste that keeps me coming back.

I have been getting this drink at Dunkin’ since I started going there, which has been about five or six years, so I’m pretty biased. But the whole point of this post is that sometimes it’s okay to be biased – Let me give you my review anyway.

Review Breakdown

BITTERNESS10 – There is not even a hint of bitterness with this drink, hence the extra cream and sugar.

FLAVOR10 – The classic Dunkin’ coffee flavor will always have my heart.

SWEETNESS8 – This drink is very sweet (but that’s part of the reason I love it, especially on bad days).

AFTERTASTE10 – Classic Dunkin’ aftertaste. Perfect.

BALANCE:  7 – I won’t lie, this drink is not balanced. But that’s why I like it.

OVERALL DRINK RATING: 9.0

Final Thoughts on the Go-To

As a coffee drinker, there is simply nothing more satisfying than the first sip of your favorite coffee at the beginning of a long day or at the end of the one, or at some random time during your lazy Sunday. Our go-to’s remind us that coffee is not simply to fuel our energy but to treat ourselves to a well-deserved, flavorful favorite.

Frankly, I didn’t make this post to recommend this drink to you. It’s simple and tons of people already get it, but to me it’s special. Take this as more of a sign to go grab your favorite go-to and take the time to enjoy it. You deserve to treat yourself to your favorite flavors, even if that means black coffee or extra extra extra, like me. Coffee isn’t just fuel, it’s an experience, and that’s why I chose to blog about it.

Come back next week for a new brew, new review!

Next week we will return to our regularly scheduled programming of our weekly coffee schedule. I will be reviewing a Starbucks drink [even though they will never compare to my favorite Dunkin’ coffee] 🙂
